Cape Disappointment - Beginning the Journey Home
The first stop on our journey home was Cape Disappointment. Located at the southwestern tip of the state of Washington, where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean, this campground was a truely memorable place. From the black sand beach to the trail to the lighthouse, we had a wonderful day here.
After departing the park we made our way south on the 101, crossing the mouth of the river on what was the longest bridge I have ever driven! Our journey through Oregon took us along some truely breathtaking coast, and through Tillamook County - home of the Tillamook brand of cheese and dairy products. We stopped at the factory there to taste the cheese and buy icecream! I had the Marionberry Pie flavor, and Rav had Blueberry Cheesecake... icecream that is, not cheese.
